1950 Mercury Lead Sled Custom Low Rider For Sale
Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present for auction with NO RESERVE this very cool 1950 Mercury Custom Lead Sled. This big cruiser was finished in 2000 and has been taken care of by 2 meticulous owners since. The car was built by Karl's Kustom Kolors in Ferndale,
Washington using only the highest quality components and parts. The craftsmanship is incredible and the modifications are extensive. Starting with the engine, it’s a 400hp GM 454ci big block V8 crate motor that was ordered just for this car. The amount of chrome in the engine bay is staggering, everything from the reverse-opening hood hinges to the huge 4-barrel carburetor are coated in beautifully done chrome. The car has a pair of Lakes sidepipes for show and the cherry bomb mufflers underneath sound just right and produce a deep rumble that’s addictive. The body has been beautifully modified and the overall look really gives this thing a presence that grabs anyone’s attention. This Merc has just been treated to a full, high quality repaint at our body shop. It looks great wearing the perfect shade of dark purple. The interior is 2-tone gray leather and is in great shape. There are Dakota digital gauges perfectly nestled into the factory Mercury dashboard. The roof has been chopped, the headlights are frenched, the door handles have been shaved and the bumperless front end has a Corvette style chrome tooth grill. The rear end has a unique design, it incorporates upside down Studebaker taillights ensconced in custom rear end bodywork that extends out and is connected by a rear transom platform. Because of this, the side view is unique and really enhances the long lines of the car. From the rear, this Lead Sled just looks downright menacing. This car drives and rides like a large, modern American luxury car. It’s equipped with power windows, power remote door locks, A/C, power steering and power brakes. The stereo is hidden in the glovebox and is powered by Nakamichi amplifiers pumping 6 speakers and a subwoofer. The trunk is power operated, the underside is equipped with purple neon lights all around, and there is a siren in the front grill. The build cost for this high quality Merc Lead Sled exceeded $120k. We have photo documentation of the build. It is now available with extremely low miles for considerably less.
